59069 Behavior Based Safety Lead
Where will you work: - Belle Plaine (Can be Canadian and US Mine site office’s too)
About the role
Lead strategic safety initiatives that align across North America (NA) supporting Phosphate / Potash Mining & Distribution sites. Critical priorities include (but not limited to) the oversight and improvement of our Action Based Safety (ABS) program and other high priority projects.
What will you do?
40% - ABS Alignment, Engagement & Optimization: Work with site teams to support ABS processes. Visit sites to assess the effectiveness of ABS programs and meet with ABS team members and site leadership teams to identify areas of success and opportunity and help them adopt best practices from across Mosaic and industry. Provide an oversight of ABS metrics to track the status and performance across NA. Provide mentorship and motivation to the owners of the site level ABS Programs.
40% - Support NA Phosphate, Potash & Distribution strategic initiatives. Act as the subject matter expert and project lead the Design, Implementation, Communication and Sustainability of critical safety initiatives across Potash, Phosphate & Distribution.
10%- Benchmarking and continuous improvement: Monitor trends, reporting, analytics and best practices in ABS, Power Bi and Digital technology and evaluate for implementation at Mosaic. Collaborate with Operations and EHS leaders at each site to make appropriate adjustments to ABS Programs based on Mosaic’s safety results as well as emerging trends in the ABS field.
10%- Conferences and training: Organize Mosaic participation in key external conferences and lead internal efforts to arrange and execute internal conferences and training opportunities. Partner with training team to develop appropriate courses and training.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or safety related
7 to 10 years of Industrial multi-site safety professional with in-depth knowledge of ABS & project management.
Thorough understanding of BBS / Safe Start theory and application.
Experience with labor relations is a plus.
Excellent verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others.
Ability to present and discuss new information and set expectations in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be able to build relationships in order to gain trust of various levels of site and business unit leadership.
Ability to lead projects from start to finish across multiple mining locations
Must be able to present and communicate to senior leadership.
Excellent abilities in priority setting, planning and structuring project deliverables
Ability to work with employees at all levels
Demonstrated problem solving techniques and strong analytical skills
Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills
Proven leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage conflicting viewpoints, particularly where there may be long standing opposition to specific concepts involved with BBS.
Exceptional interpersonal and team building skills
Ability to travel 30% in both Canada & US
