Position Overview
The Assistant Front Office Manager plays a vital role in ensuring that our guests receive an unforgettable experience from the moment they arrive. This position assists the Director of Guest Services in overseeing the entire Front Office department, providing leadership, training, and support for the team to deliver intuitive, thoughtful service that reflects Alila Ventana Big Sur’s luxury standards.
This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, colleagues, and leaders across the resort. The Assistant Front Office Manager must collaborate effectively with other departments — including Housekeeping, Sales, Food & Beverage, Spa, Human Resources, and Finance — to support a seamless, elevated guest experience from arrival to departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily management of Front Office operations, including Front Desk, Concierge, Bell Services, and Night Audit.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training of Front Office colleagues.
- Champion service excellence by modeling authentic, personalized guest interactions.
- Monitor guest arrivals and departures, addressing any concerns or requests promptly and thoughtfully.
- Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Sales, Food & Beverage, Spa, Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to coordinate guest needs and ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records, manage departmental expenses, and support operational efficiencies.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as needed and maintain a visible presence to support both guests and colleagues.
Salary Range: $68,640 – $73,000 annual salary

Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous hotel supervisory or management experience required; Front Office experience strongly preferred.
- Luxury resort or hotel experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Opera PMS and other hospitality systems preferred.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership abilities with a passion for developing and supporting team members.
- Ability to build positive, effective relationships with colleagues across multiple departments.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move through the resort for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed, including varying weather conditions.
