The Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Acquisition, is responsible for driving the identification, evaluation, procurement, and management of healthcare data assets to support analytics objectives across relevant disease areas. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams—including Analytics, Data Management, Procurement, Legal, Compliance, and Data Governance—to ensure the successful acquisition and adoption of high-quality data assets that meet business needs.

The position involves evaluating the suitability of datasets, managing contracting processes for data purchases, maintaining documentation repositories, and supporting budget planning processes. The role also champions the evolution of the US Commercial data strategy by standardizing frameworks for tracking the business impact of data assets and ensuring visibility into available data through tools like a centralized Data Catalog.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Analytics and Data Management colleagues to identify specific data needs to meet analytics objectives in relevant disease areas

  • Identify relevant datasets to meet business needs and conduct detailed evaluations to assess strength and limitations of those datasets

  • Manage contracting process for new and renewal data purchases collaborating closely with Procurement, Legal, Compliance, and Data Governance

  • Support evolution of US Commercial data strategy by championing/adopting a standardized framework for assessing and tracking business impact of key data assets

  • Maintain repository and tracker of all data purchase documentation including but not limited to MSAs, SOWs, TPAs

  • Support Analytics and Data Management teams in annual budget planning process by providing reports of data purchases

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external data providers to drive improved stakeholder satisfaction and stay fluent with evolving data and analytics landscape

  • Manage population of information in Data Catalog, to allow visibility into available data for a broad range of stakeholders

  • Serve as subject matter expert on key data assets and champion successful adoption throughout the organization

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years’ experience conducting evaluations of the strength of specific datasets to meet business objectives

  • 3+ years’ experience procuring data assets and coordinating with data management and engineering teams to ingest data

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with common healthcare datasets (Medical & Pharmacy Claims, Electronic Health Records, Specialty Pharmacy/Distributor, and others)

  • Strong understanding of data assets available in the pharmaceutical industry (including common data layouts and data elements) and the methods involved in collection of data and creation of those data assets

  • Experience populating and utilizing a Data Catalog

  • Strong understanding of data procurement practices

  • Experience documenting compliance requirements for working with specific data assets in a regulated industry

  • Experience working in a major pharmaceutical data supplier to prepare or utilize data products on behalf of pharmaceutical clients

  • Strong understanding of analytical methods for gaining insights from data

  • Experience with Agile methodologies for technical product development and program/project management

  • Strong hands-on data evaluation and investigation skills (using SQL and/or Python; Databricks and/or Snowflake)
