Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community.

Background on the Position
The role will reside within Investment Management Finance which is a team dedicated to providing support to Morgan Stanley's Investment Management segment (MSIM) a leading global asset manager across the public and private markets. Members of the Investment Management Finance team can expect to be involved in accounting, finance and process transformation. The successful candidate will join the Revenue Operations Team located in Boston. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the monthly and quarterly invoicing cycle for the Parametric line of business, the monthly revenue recognition and related accounting processes, assistance with internal and external audit requests and ensuring controls and procedures are properly followed.


Primary Responsibilities / Experience
> Assist with all aspects of Revenue Operations including the following: client and account setup, fee calculation and verification.
> Assist with all aspects of Revenue Accounting including the following: fee accrual calculations and processing, review and posting of general ledger entries,monthly revenue fluctuation commentary, and compilation of month end audit packages.
> Compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404 internal controls, process flow, identifying risk and controls, and monthly/quarterly certifications impacting the billing process. Reviews support for independent interim and year-end audits.
> Manage defined responsibilities as well as ad hoc analyses / projects.

Revenue Operations:
> Triage account setup issues to facilitate accurate and timely billing and revenue recognition processes
> Assist with the billing process and provide the quality control necessary to ensure that invoices for specific lines of business are accurate and timely.
> Proactively look for ways to continue to improve the efficiency of the calculation, billing and collections processes, and the reporting and financial analysis of client fees.
> Interpret complex billing and revenue recognition arrangements, consulting with management, other areas of Finance & Accounting and the business
> Verification of Custodian/Platform Payments to ensure proper account billing and revenue recognition

Analysis:
> Review monthly asset and revenue reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness of data prior to release of reports to senior management.
> Assist with the monthly revenue recognition process ensuring calculations are accurate.
> Provide financial support and analysis for product pricing, sales team compensation, business planning and strategic initiatives (domestic and international).
> Ability to manage, manipulate and interpret large volumes of data

Internal controls:
> Develop, evaluate, and refine internal controls necessary to support Revenue Operations
> Ensure internal control practices are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, internal policy and any other applicable rules and regulations.
> Identify risks and opportunities to strengthen internal controls, including implementation, documentation, and testing of additional control policies and procedures as needed. Qualifications:
> Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
> Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
> Strong analytical, data manipulation and problem solving skills.
> Ability to work independently on various projects to achieve desired results.
> Demonstrated understanding of systems interrelations and database concepts a plus.
> At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
> Previous client billing operations and accounts receivable experience a plus.
> Strong computer skills (notably Excel) a necessity. Experience using Tableau a plus.
> Experience with Bonaire Report Fee Billing application a plus
