What You'll Do
NY SHE Process Safety team works with US businesses to implement the Company's global Process Safety Management System (PSMS) and provides knowledge-based support on industry standards and good practices around safe and reliable asset management including the PSMS, Risk Control Standards (RCSs) and a wide variety of risk assessment and assurance efforts within our Process Safety space. As an intern, you will be able to assist in a number of ways by supporting our internal team to evaluate risk and develop mitigating factors using National Grids systematic process safety approach. You will also be able to work with the greater businesses on process safety incident review and provide guidance, share lessons learned and best practices. You will also be able to maintain the risk assessment inventory, risk portfolio, Process Safety website and SharePoint site, develop and coordinate targeted training for different process safety programs, conduct outreach with engineering areas to ensure lessons learned are factored into new designs, and lastly you will be able to develop and monitor the continuous improvement efforts regarding process safety.
You will be in Hicksville, NY working in a Hybrid structure for the summer. You must be located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer.
What You'll Need
- Availability to start on program start date, May 27, 2025 and work full-time (40 hours a week) throughout your duration of the summer
- Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2025 Semester
- Pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (including CPT & OPT)
- Valid US Driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.

Salary Range
$23.00 - $27.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)
$33.00 - $34.00 an hour (Graduate Student)
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
Must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. As a Gridtern, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
