Honeywell is seeking a highly skilled Sr R&D Mechanical Engineer to join our LNG Technology & Products Honeywell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our LNG Technology & Products team within the Energy & Sustainability Solutions (ESS) business unit. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize LNG equipment, processes, and technologies, directly supporting our LNG business operations. Reporting to the LNG Technology & Product Manager, you will lead R&D projects to develop new products, enhance existing designs, and implement advanced manufacturing processes.
You will work in a highly technical, innovative environment, solving structural, fracture, and thermal mechanics challenges while improving pressure vessel and heat exchanger designs. Your contributions will enhance LNG technology solutions and manufacturing efficiencies at our Palmetto, FL plant.
This individual contributor role focuses on R&D, manufacturing processes, and heat exchanger technologies for LNG applications. The ideal candidate has experience designing and manufacturing large pressure vessels and/or heat exchangers for process plants, along with expertise in automated manufacturing processes. You will have the opportunity to travel up to 25% domestically and globally to support project execution and implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Define technology needs by working effectively with the business/product owners to understand our customer needs and execute development projects to implement innovative solutions addressing those needs.
* Support and lead Technology ODI (Offering Development and Introduction) projects through the stage-gated development process.
* Pioneer coil wound heat exchanger designs, components, and manufacturing improvements.
* Define and implement testing procedures supporting research and development projects.
* Complete finite element analysis (FEA) models, reviews, interpretation, as well as comprehensively present findings to engineering and management.
* Innovate pressure vessel and heat exchanger engineering, design, and manufacturing methods.
* Work with the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering teams to incorporate improvements into standardized engineering tools and manufacturing work practices.
* Protect and expand LNG technology intellectual property and file patent applications.
YOU MUST HAVE:
*Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
*5+ years of experience in a technology development, manufacturing, and/or pressure vessel (or heat exchanger) design.
WE VALUE:
*B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
*Very strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, structural mechanics, and thermal mechanics.
*Experience establishing, analyzing, and implementing development programs for new components, products, and/or manufacturing methods.
*Static finite element analysis (FEA) experience for linear and non-linear systems.
*Experience in advancing manufacturing through automation (such as Smart Manufacturing, Industrial Robotics, Industry 4.0, Industry 5.0, etc.).
*Dynamic FEA experience (such as external loading on process plant equipment such as blast, wind, seismic, etc.).
*Professional Engineering License in PA (or FL) with a strong preference for licensing to be in Machine Design and Materials.
*Advanced degree (M.S. and Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
*Experience in design and fabrication per internationally accepted pressure vessel codes (e.g., ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2, PD5500, EN13445, etc.).
*Detailed knowledge of heat exchanger design and fabrication for process plants with a preference for applications in the LNG or hydrocarbon industries.
*Patent writing and filing experience is highly desired.
*Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
