The Opportunity
The Head of Finance Business Partnering for National Grid Ventures' U.S. Northeast ("NGV USNE") business unit is hiring a Senior Finance Business Partner to drive financial results for NGV USNE's exciting portfolio of businesses. NGV is the competitive division of National Grid plc which operates outside of National Grid's core regulated businesses in the UK and U.S. and develops, operates, and invests in energy projects, technologies, and partnerships to accelerate the development of our clean energy future. NGV USNE is a key part of NGV and manages:
* National Grid Generation, a fleet of nearly 4 GW of conventional electric generation on Long Island, New York
* National Grid LNG, an LNG storage and liquefaction facility in Providence, Rhode Island
* Community Offshore Wind, a joint venture between NGV and RWE developing offshore wind off the coast of New York and New Jersey
* New York Transco, a joint venture with New York's other transmission utilities owning, operating, and developing competitive transmission projects in New York
* A business development team focused on originating and advancing projects in competitive electric transmission, battery storage, hydrogen, etc.
What You'll Do
* Become a trusted partner to drive financial performance with the NGV USNE business
* Deliver excellent customer service to the NGV USNE business as a key member of the customer-facing Finance Business Partnering team
* Represent Finance and provide financial perspective and insights in business meetings, strategic projects, and decision-making processes
* Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of how NGV USNE's businesses make money
* Contribute to recurring finance processes like quarterly rolling forecasts, annual strategic business plans, impairment tests, etc.
* Support and challenge the business in the production of forecasts that are ambitious but deliverable
* Identify risks and opportunities to delivering agreed forecasts
* Work with the business to mitigate these risks and capitalize on the opportunities
* Explain financial performance to the business in the context of commitments made in prior forecasts
* Adapt communication of financial concepts to a range of financial and non-financial stakeholders to drive accountability
* Identify opportunities for operating expense and capital expenditure savings
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders across the business
* Work collaboratively with other Finance teams including Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Technical Accounting, Insurance, Treasury
* Build and/or maintain complex financial models for determining the lifetime economics of NGV USNE's businesses
* Support production of investment decision papers presented to National Grid's Investment Committee and Board
* Support negotiation of joint venture agreements, offtake agreements, purchase and sale agreements, etc. with financial and commercial input
* Identify and support the implementation of opportunities to continuously improve finance processes
* Play an active role in developing and maintaining a cohesive team across Finance
What You'll Need
* Prior experience working with businesses to drive financial performance
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and utilize internal networks to achieve positive outcomes
* Knowledge of energy markets and how regulated and unregulated energy companies make money
* Comfort working through ambiguity and supporting projects across NGV USNE's diverse portfolio of businesses
* Ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear, concise, and impactful way to drive the right conversations with the business about its financial performance
* Ability to prioritize so that time and effort are focused on items that make the most difference to financial performance
* Attention to detail
* Self-starter and motivated to deliver and continuously improve
* Passionate about doing the right thing
* Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and IFRS

Annual Salary
MA: $173,000-$204,000
DNY: $186,000-$219,000
Salary commensurate with experience and location.
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
