Social Media Specialist
A global nonprofit dedicated to advancing applied geophysics through the education, research and industry engagement, is looking for a full-time Social Media Specialist. This position is a hybrid, direct-hire role.
The Social Media Specialist will enhance the organization's online presence and engagement. This position is responsible for developing and executing social media strategies to increase brand awareness, drive follower growth, and support the company's marketing and sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement a Social Media Strategy: Contribute to developing and implementing comprehensive social media strategies across all relevant platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). Align social media efforts with overall marketing and communications goals.
Content Creation and Management: Create engaging and high-quality social media content, including text, images, videos, and interactive elements. Curate and share relevant industry content and news. Manage social media content calendars and publishing schedules.
Community Management: Interact with followers, and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Build relationships with the organization's members, committees, and key stakeholders. Monitor and analyze social media conversations and trends.
Social Media Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze key social media metrics (e.g. reach, engagement, website traffic, conversions). Generate regular reports on social media performance and campaign effectiveness. Utilize social media analytics tools (e.g. Sprout Social, Google Analytics, LinkedIn Ad Manager) to gather data and insights.
Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Research and stay abreast of the latest social media trends, best practices, and technologies. Explore and recommend new social media strategies and advertising opportunities.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: This position requires close collaboration with several internal departments. This involves ensuring alignment of social media efforts with overall organizational goals and collaborating to create, manage, and implement consistent key messaging across all channels. This is a fast-paced and multifaceted role.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 2+ years of professional experience in social media marketing
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful social media campaigns.
- Strong understanding of social media marketing best practices, including paid and organic strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, social media apps
- Experience with video editing software a major plus
- Basic understanding of Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads principles, with a strong interest in developing digital marketing skills
- Experience with social media management tools is preferred (e.g. Sprout Social, Hootsuite)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
