Senior Staff Accountant

JustinBradley’s client is a is a premier company in the construction industry serving top clients in the greater Northern Virginia/Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD market. They enjoy working with the top national and regional general contractors and architects on commercial projects throughout the Northern Virginia/DC/Baltimore metro area. With a growth strategy in place, they are looking to elevate their accounting team by adding a Senior Staff Accountant.

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting with daily operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Reporting to the CFO, this position will offer opportunities to grow alongside the company. The Senior Staff Accountant will manage the general ledger, reconcile accounts, prepare timely and accurate financial statements, and coordinate with accounts receivable/payables in addition to overseeing other accounting processes.

This position will be in office five days a week. After the initial training period, hybrid work may be considered.

Key Job Responsibilities include:

• Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, including preparing/reviewing journal entries and ensuring proper account coding.
• Assist with overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities including preparing account reconciliations.
• Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Collaborate with the CFO to provide detailed variance analyses and financial insights.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes as required.
• Assist with the implementation and administration of new accounting and project management systems.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
