We are seeking a highly skilled full stack, Senior Software Engineer (Healthcare Vertical Integration = Acqueon) - Contractor, to join our dynamic development team. In this full stack engineering role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing telephony integrations with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. You will work across the full stack—back-end, front-end, and APIs—ensuring that telephony solutions are effectively integrated with healthcare workflows. You will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining critical integrations between Five9 telephony systems and Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications. You will leverage your expertise to build scalable, efficient, and secure solutions that enhance the user experience and support the needs of healthcare customers.
Join our team on a 6 month contract with the flexibility of fully remote work. This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside the 50 mile radius of our San Ramon office. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Ramon location, this role is Hybrid and would require 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain both front-end and back-end components for telephony integration within Epic EHR systems.
- Build user-friendly interfaces for healthcare providers to interact with telephony features directly within the Epic platform.
- Develop microservices and APIs to facilitate smooth data exchange between Five9 telephony and Epic EHR systems.
- Integrate voice, chat, and other telephony communication features to enhance healthcare workflows.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, healthcare experts, and other developers to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and provide feedback during agile cycles.
- Write unit tests, integration tests, and perform troubleshooting to ensure the reliability of integrations.
- Optimize application performance to handle large-scale data loads and high concurrency typical of healthcare environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full stack (front-end, back-end, database, telephony integration).
- Create comprehensive technical documentation for system design, API usage, and integration points
- Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the technology, design principles, coding standards, and healthcare solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience as a full stack developer.
- Strong experience in JavaScript (React, Node.js, Angular) for front-end development and Java/J2EE (Servlets, JSP, Spring, Hibernate, etc.) for back-end services.
- Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and hands-on experience developing and deploying microservices.
- Experience with integration technologies like RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, and working with Web Services.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), collaboration tools like JIRA/Confluence and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working on any authentication frameworks, single sign on is a plus.
- Familiarity with Epic EHR and its integration protocols (HL7, FHIR, etc.) is a plus.
- Exposure to virtual desktop environments, such as VMware or Citrix, is a plus.
- Experience working with telephony systems, particularly Five9, is a strong advantage.
