Wells Fargo is seeking a Merchant Services Senior Risk Analytics Consultant to leverage data analytics in assessing credit and fraud risks, enhancing risk reporting, and supporting business growth while safeguarding the payments ecosystem. This role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in risk management, and excellent communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
Risk Assessment & Analytics
- Analyze merchant data to assess credit risk and fraud risk for underwriting and ongoing monitoring.
- Identify emerging fraud patterns and risk trends using advanced analytics.
- Utilize machine learning models, statistical techniques, and predictive analytics to enhance risk assessment.
- Develop and refine risk scoring models to automate decision-making and improve risk controls.
Reporting & Insights
- Design, automate, and maintain risk dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to track key risk indicators.
- Provide regular risk insights to leadership, helping shape risk policies and business strategies.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in risk metrics and reporting methodologies.
Risk Strategy & Controls
- Develop and implement early warning systems for high-risk merchants.
- Recommend and optimize risk thresholds, policies, and approval strategies based on data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with compliance, fraud, and underwriting teams to refine merchant monitoring frameworks.
Payments Ecosystem Protection
- Support initiatives to protect the payments ecosystem from fraud, abuse, and financial losses.
- Work with product and engineering teams to implement real-time risk controls.
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes and ensure risk strategies align with industry best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a key risk analytics expert, working with risk, product, operations, and data science teams.
- Effectively communicate complex risk findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Train and educate internal teams on risk trends, analytics tools, and reporting frameworks.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 3+ years of payments industry/merchant services experience
- Strong experience in data analytics, risk management, and reporting in a payments or financial services environment.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, SAS, or other data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of merchant services, credit risk, fraud risk, and payments risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience with risk modeling, machine learning, or predictive analytics is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance business growth with effective risk mitigation strategies.
