Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Optical Engineer to work in our Hudson, NH location.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and test of complex optical systems operating in the UV/VIS/IR regions under stressing military and aerospace environments.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment to define and analyze subsystem performance specifications and to ensure compliance to these specifications in operational environments.
In this role, candidates must have the ability to interact well with program management and customers. Candidates will be expected to develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness. The candidate must have strong technical skills in optics.
Experience with free space laser communications is desired. Ability to work in all phases of development is preferred.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

- Eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance OR Current, active, Secret Security Clearance
- Experienced with system design and hands on experience in multiple optical applications.
- Experienced conducting system performance trades and manage risk elements to ensure maximum cost effectiveness and optimal system design performance.
- Experience with the cost, schedule, and technical aspects of developing optical products is desired.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate with program management, customers, and senior engineering leadership.
- Knowledge and practical experience with optical systems is required.
- Free Space Laser Communications experience is preferred
- M.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
- Hold an active Top Secret security clearance
