Summary

Perform field exams on the books, records and operations of company's seeking or receiving lines of credits or loans to ensure compliance in lending procedures, assessment of the adequacy and quality of collateral and to detect trend changes and manage credit risk. Perform reviews of direct and indirect pre-finance and recurring field exams performed on Business Credit and Commercial Banking relationships. Prepare a detailed report of examinations findings for distribution to loan officers, credit administration and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel to site locations to perform field exams (both pre-finance and existing customers) to evaluate the quality of collateral and the borrower's accounting system. Perform reviews of direct and indirect pre-finance and recurring field exams performed on Business Credit and Commercial Banking relationships.
  • Identify and report recommendations and issues when the exam scope testing results do not align with the confirmed intent of signed term sheets, legal documents and credit approvals, including the borrowing base structure.
  • Identify and report matters related to collateral risk. Makes recommendations as it relates to the collateral supporting the loan and/or issues and concerns that are raised during the Field Exam due diligence process.
  • Identify and report observations on item(s) that could result in future impact to the Bank, i.e., changes in business structure/strategy, system reporting changes, etc.
  • Take responsibility for the exam and the work conducted by assist examiners.
  • Conduct respectful, clear, and concise conversations with the existing or prospective Borrowers’ representatives to discuss any collateral issues or areas of concern that arise during the exam. Complete an Exit Interview.
  • Communicate and escalate significant exam findings, concerns, delays, or borrower limitations to deal team and Field Exam Manager on how the exam is progressing and provide periodic updates to other lending and credit personnel as needed.
  • Schedule assigned exams and communicate any issues with the scheduling of exams to the Field Exam Manager. Evaluate past exams and determine the most cost-effective way to schedule and complete each exam. Obtain the assistance of an outside vendor as needed. For exams with more than one examiner, determine if it is necessary for both examiners to be onsite.
  • Complete a high-quality exam report or exam review, using the most current template, submitted timely to the Field Exam Manager. Report should be professionally written and should specifically have no spelling or grammar errors, no calculation errors and should contain correct formatting/pagination parameters.
  • Turn in exams and exam reviews within required timelines.
  • Complete all assigned corporate training within the established timeline.
  • Work with business line areas to support growth initiatives with referrals while maintaining approved risk appetite statement where field exam monitoring is required as part of the structure.
  • Ensure travel is booked according to Bank policy.
  • Complete expense reports at the completion of each field exam assignment and submit for Manager approval.
  • Work to provide the best possible customer experience though clear communication, efficient and timely work and responses.
  • Participate in Bank sponsored Associate Resource Groups as well as diversity programs internally or in the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in conducting field exams
  • Accounting, Writing and Interpersonal skills; Consumer Finance, ABL, Factoring experience

Travel Requirements

  • Out of town, overnight travel throughout the Bank's lending footprint will be required up to 50% of the time.
  • Once fully trained, the Senior Field Examiner can manage their own travel schedules
