United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Senior Director, Events & Engagement to join our team. As Senior Director, Events & Engagement you will provide leadership and direction in the execution of quality corporate and fundraising events and engagement activities that position United Way positively in the community and help to build brand awareness and experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:10
- Oversees, and directs the look and feel, logistics and execution for all key revenue generating United Way events.
- Provides advice and guidance to other events that support United Way's mission.
- Develops the deliverables and directs the work of the Engagement staff; staffs the Engagement Committee.
- Oversees and directs the internal staff and volunteers in developing, designing and executing United Way Signature and Engagement events.
- Responsible for developing overall event budget, tracking events against budget and following cost control measures to ensure events executed within budget with a focus on cost containment to ensure best fundraising results, including seeking product donations with purpose of maximizing net revenue from events.
- Work with outside vendors, staff and volunteers to find and secure locations, awards, and other goods and services needed for special events.
- Directs internal and external communications with staff and volunteers as it relates to event details.
- Provides leadership within Development team needed to execute events - includes but not limited to liaising with internal partners to produce event collaterals, communications assets, rsvp lists, media, scriptwriting, reports, etc.
- Responsible for the supervision of junior employees which includes training, developing, measuring performance, disciplining and directing tasks. Has authority to make recommendations on hires, transfers, promotions, compensation, or termination of employees who are direct reports.
- Supervises auctions to increase net revenue and manages event consultant
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations. Master's degree preferred
Experience Requirements: 6 to 8 years of experience in event design, logistics, management and execution. Supervisory role experience 2 to 3 years.
Technology Requirements: Internet Explorer and Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; ANDAR
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Ability to provide leadership. Must be detailed oriented; ability to prioritize; excellent written and oral communication skills; creativity. Strong management and development skills with the ability to manage large groups. Must possess customer service and public speaking abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be detail oriented. Spanish language not a requirement but helpful.
Contacts: Internal. Communicate with all levels of the organization to exchange information.
External. Communicate with volunteers, contributors, general public,
- vendors, public/government agencies and United Way affiliated
- agencies to exchange information, collect information, and coordinate
- projects as appropriate.
Direct Supervision of Others: Supervises events and engagement staff as well as volunteers, consultants and Engagement Committee
