Scientist IV with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA, Inc. in Athens, GA

Job Duties: Perform and analyze microbial fermentation and cell culture in bioreactors directing towards vaccine process development. Author and review process flow diagrams (PFDs) for vaccine manufacturing processes. Scale up of laboratory process to large scale. Technology Transfer of process from R&D to manufacturing or site to site manufacturing. Data analysis using JMP or Statistica or similar tool and technical data presentation to management. Process troubleshooting, scale down / scale up modelling and execution. Possess thorough understanding and process knowledge of Pharmaceutical Quality System. Provide technical guidance to BI Manufacturing network.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (8:00am to 5:00pm) 

Job Requirements: Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Microbial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role OR Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Microbial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Must have three (3) years of experience working with fermentation or cell culture technology. Must have two (2) years of experience with scale up of laboratory process to large scale. Must have one (1) year of experience with: authoring or reviewing manufacturing documents; performing JMP data analysis; and, using pharmaceutical quality systems. Must have experience performing pharmaceutical product or project technology transfer from research to manufacturing. 10% domestic and international travel required.
