JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Sales Operation Center Supervisor, this role is responsible for inspecting new buses when they are delivered to the Sales Operation Center making repairs or adjustments to ensure the salable condition of the buses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect buses to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, company standards, and customer requirements
- Inspects for obvious damage and missing major components
- Inspects for loose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
- Verifies all fluids are correct and at proper levels
- Activates power equipment such as electric windows, seats, radio, horn, lights and directional signals to ensure specified operating standards
- Verifies no diagnostic trouble codes are present using technicians' tools and test equipment
- Starts engine and drives the vehicle to test steering, brakes, transmission, and engine operation
- Inspects surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint. Touches up imperfections using brush applicator and factory-supplied matching paint
- Performs repairs and replaces defective items with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with factory standards
- Ensures repairs are properly documented
- Washes and polishes exterior of vehicles
- Cleans and vacuums interior of vehicles
- Keeps shop area neat and clean
- Maintains and is accountable for all Sales Operation Center owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong technical background with expertise in school bus and/or medium duty vehicle applications
- Product familiarization for all sub-systems on school bus and/or medium duty vehicle products
- Excellent communication and customer relation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proven track record of working independently, following-through and solving problems quickly
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required, including weekends and evenings
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE:
- 2+ years of PDI technician experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry inspecting & repairing body, chassis, electrical & powertrain components
- Class B CDL w/School bus & Air Brake Endorsement, or the ability to obtain first year of employment
- 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- ASE Master School Bus Technician certification
