What You'll Do
The Global Risk function is dedicated to fostering responsible entrepreneurship through BCG by:
Enable: empower BCG's growth and innovation through promoting responsible value creation for clients and society
Navigate: embed scalable, data driven, risk-based decision making to proactively adapt and quickly react to key risks for BCG
Protect: serve as trusted advisors to BCG; look around corners internally and externally to keep BCG strong for the future
Assurance & Advisory (A&A) is part of BCG Global Risk function, dedicated to identifying and managing significant risk exposures at BCG. The six coreareas of focus for the A&A team include geographic risk reviews, functional / shared services reviews, advisory efforts, data & analytics, spot checks and remediation. As the 3rd line of defense, the A&A team collaborates closely with other Global Risk teams (e.g., Compliance, Information Security,Data Privacy), other global functions, and local operations to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
This role is global in nature, applies to all BCG functions / Offices, and looks to provide management with an independent and objective assessment
of business risk and internal controls. This role will also support the global functions and local Offices as they implement solutions to manage risk
YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Interest and passion for learning, and gaining skills in all functions (Finance, Accounting, HR, IT, etc.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to multi-task; this individual will be assisting the team in planning for multiple risk reviews (e.g., risk assessment process/prioritization, scheduling meetings, preparing work papers)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills (e.g., draft and assist the team in proofing final deliverables)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail (e.g., make selections for our substantive test of details, perform testing of transactions)
- Open minded individual who isn't afraid to offer their suggestions, opinion or perspective (e.g., provide the team with thoughts and perspective on how we could improve our process/procedures)
What You'll Bring
- Strong interest in international business, cultures and learning how business practices vary around the world (e.g., researching countries for changes to business landscape) - this role will include working with a team of international colleagues and internal customers- prior international experience/exposure is a plus.
- Prior professional/co-op experience is strongly preferred (experience at a Big 4 and/or multi-national professional services firm is a plus)
- Prior experience working in a team environment (e.g., work, academics, athletics) - being an effective team player will be a critical success factor in this role
- Business (Finance or Accounting majors) - basic understanding of accounting (Principals of Accounting I & II)
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint
- Prior work, internship or co-op experience in a progressive corporate environment a plus
- Must meet the Co-op program eligibility requirements of the current college/university's academic department and student must be approved by the college/university to participate in the Co-op program.
- Must be an undergraduate currently enrolled in the Northeastern University Co-op Program
- Must have legal work authorization in the U.S.
- Must be physically located in the U.S. during Co-op
- Must be able to work Eastern Time Zone business hours Monday-Friday
Who You'll Work With
This role will support the Assurance & Advisory team (approximately 10 individuals) and will require frequent interaction with all members of the
team. We are excited to teach co-ops about the many aspects of Risk Management, from our philosophy and approach to hands on learning of the risk management process.
