Job Summary
Program Assistants are team members in the ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods. The ICPSR Summer Program provides in-person and online training opportunities in quantitative methods and statistics to a diverse, international constituency of graduate students, faculty, and researchers across the social, behavioral, and health sciences. The Summer Program's annual training curriculum includes more than 100 courses and workshops offered from May through August. In-person courses are held on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor.
Program Assistants provide instructional, hosting, and facilities support for Summer Program activities located in the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research Ross School of Business, and other buildings across central campus. Program Assistants work closely as a team in coordination with Summer Program administrative and computing staff to ensure the smooth operation of all Summer Program courses and events.
Responsibilities*
- Facilities support, including:
- Setting up Summer Program administrative and faculty offices, including moving furniture and other items.
- Assisting with monitoring and proper functioning of Program buildings, including building openings, closings, and access.
- Hosting and events support, including:
- Ordering catering.
- Event planning, set-up, support, and clean-up.
- Communications and social media, including:
- Assisting with multimedia, graphics, and design support.
- Interviewing Summer Program scholars and instructors.
- Photographing Summer Program classes and social events.
- Creating posts for social media.
- Collecting and curating participant testimonials for the website and social media.
- Administrative and clerical work, including:
- Making and sending participation certificates and grade letter memorandums.
- Emailing class information to participants.
- Answering emails.
- Performing instructional support tasks for faculty.
- Assist the Summer Program computing support team with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- Excellent interpersonal skills including a positive, responsive customer service attitude and the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team-oriented work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage many tasks concurrently and set priorities
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience performing clerical, administrative, or logistical duties.
- Previous experience in facilities, hosting or events.
- Ability to lift boxes and move items up to 40 pounds.
Work Schedule
This is a temporary position that requires in-person availability from May 7 through August 15, 2025. Full and part-time schedules are available, depending on your availability.
Modes of Work

Additional Information
This is a temporary position that requires in-person availability from early May through mid-August. Some evenings and weekends are required. We are looking to hire several individuals for this position.
Program Assistants will report to Stephanie Carpenter, Summer Program Manager.
