We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist with a strong laboratory automation and strategic business planning skills set to join the Translational Sciences and Outsourcing group at West Point/Spring-House, PA to deliver and execute on laboratory automation (robotic) solutions. The primary role of the successful candidate will be to collaborate translating project team design requirements to successfully execute scientific processes on robotic platforms. Establish standard operating practices and engage in cross function end to end process development with science and IT.
The candidate must have hands-on experience with the design, develop and transfer of automated ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) screening, quantitative measurement and vaccine clinical assays, and is able facilitate the execution of these assays both individually and through team members.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record to develop, optimize and execute scientific processes on robotic platforms. The candidate should be current on state-of-the art technologies and champion the evaluation of new technologies and optimization of processes. Providing leadership and mentorship to junior staff, building relationships with stakeholders, and providing expert technical representation on multidisciplinary teams will be expected.
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Automated Sciences, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry or equivalent with scientific expertise with laboratory equipment in the development and execution of biological and chemical assays. Bachelors degree with 15 years of experience, Masters with at least 8 years experience and PhD with 5 years experience.
Responsibilities:

Collaborative leader to liaison between multiple business partners to develop new and current business strategies. Ability to forecast resource needs and constraints to realize these business decisions.
Design & Operate robotic systems to validate, optimize and execute various therapeutic assays on automation platforms.
Method development, qualification/validation, trouble-shooting. Support of pre-clinical sample analysis as needed.
Serve as an subject matter expert on developed assays, providing technical support as needed to internal laboratories working to implement assays.
Strong communication skills to effectively present results to stakeholders in partner organizations, leadership teams, external scientific meetings, and within a matrix environment.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of both ADME screening assay, quantitative pharmacokinetic and vaccine clinical assay protocols (e.g. stability, inhibition, binding, VRNT, Serology) and sample preparation procedures for liquid chromatography mass spectrometry assays (in-vivo and in-vitro.)
Bioanalytical methods including ligand binding, cell-based neutralization and molecular biology methods to translate assay development to automated systems including LIMS integration
Working knowledge of GxP regulations and applied use in a laboratory/manufacturing setting.
Experiences with laboratory automation schedulers such as Cellario, Green Button Go or Momentum. Biosero's Green Button Go and Thermo Momentum automation is preferred.
Working knowledge of liquid handlers specifically Beckman and Hamilton.
Proven capability to independently analyze and interpret experimental data, along with effective skills in presenting and discussing findings within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team setting.
