The Metropolitan Airports Commission is seeking a Journeyperson Painter to perform skilled painting, scraping, sanding, priming, staining, sealing, varnishing and finishing of all types of concrete, wood, sheetrock and metal finishes on interior and exterior surfaces.  In addition this position is responsible for striping roads, parking lots, runways, taxiways and apron areas and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of paint spraying equipment.   Performs other duties as assigned.

Interior Painting/Finishing and Wall Coverings

• Preps and paints walls, ceilings, windows, doors, woodwork, railings, pillars, dividers, etc.
• Sands, stains, seals, and varnishes doors, window frames, railings, woodwork, paneling, etc.
• Tapes, putties, sands, primes, and applies finish coat to sheetrock walls, ceiling, dividers, etc.
• Hangs wallpaper and vinyl fabric on walls and dividers.
• Finishes cabinets and picture frames. 

Exterior Finishing

• Scrapes, sands, sandblasts and power-washing of all surfaces prior to painting.
• Paints curbs, roadway striping, parking lots, parking ramps, crosswalks, railings, service roads, etc.
• Paints wood, concrete, steel, MAC buildings, and other structure exteriors. 

Field Painting 

• In accordance with the FAA Advisory Circular, paints striping on runways, taxiways and apron areas including holding lines, taxi lines, runway markings, threshold striping, apron markings, etc.

• Completion of a verifiable state-approved apprenticeship program for painters (must provide proof of certification of apprenticeship completion)
• Two years of journeyperson painter experience 
• Basic computer skills including proficiency with email and web-browsers.
• Possession of a valid state-issued driver's license 
• Possession of or ability to obtain a complete set of painting tools by date of hire
• Ability to successfully obtain an Air Operations Area (AOA) license within the probationary period
• Ability to lift, position, carry, and pull 75 lbs. 
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear respirator

• Experience with completing jobs in accordance with a maintenance program
• Experience in industrial painting and industrial painting tools and coatings such as aerial lifts, ladders, scaffolding, sandblaster, power washers, epoxy, urethane etc.
• Knowledge of the use and maintenance of a wide range of spray equipment
• Experience in runway, roadway, or parking lot marking applications
• Experience in drywall finishing 
• Ability to read blueprints
• OSHA 10 training
