Essential Function

The Loss Prevention Data Insights Analyst plays a critical role in supporting loss prevention by leveraging data analysis to uncover internal, external, and operational losses. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying new or elevated shrink and fraud trends, total retail loss patterns, and generating insights to inform. The ideal candidate is skilled in working collaboratively with others, understands how to build queries and reports, and utilizing exception-based reporting tools to aid in comprehensive case investigations and total retail losses.

Primary Duties

80%

  • Fraud Detection & Prevention: Analyzes, monitors and interpret transaction data to identify potential losses due to internal and external fraud or theft. Proactively search for anomalies and trends that could indicate fraud or retail loss by other means (training opportunities, operational processes, etc.) and provide feedback and recommendations for better controls.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Delivers timely analysis, and present key insights and updates to internal stakeholders. Build queries and reports using exception-based reporting and case management tools to generate insights into fraud trends and total retail losses. Create clear, actionable reports that highlight key findings and support field investigations and operational insights.
  • Support & Collaboration: Work closely with the Loss Prevention Field Team and stakeholders to provide data and analytical support for case investigations and operational insights, to include Distribution Centers. Act as a resource for the LP team, offering insights that aid in investigations, insights, and prevention of additional/future losses.

  • Restitution Data Entry & Follow-Up: Responsible for maintaining oversight of accurate records of restitution payments, entering data into the case management system, and following up with payors to ensure timely payments. Oversight of late payments, responding to inquiries, and providing payment status information, trends, and insights via email to LP key leadership.

  • Acts as a backup to the LP Analytics and Insights Lead. This may include ongoing projects and ensuring continuity of analytics review.
  • Acts as a backup to the Online Risk Analyst as needed to provide assistance to daily customer service requests.
  • Staying flexible and open to new duties as business needs evolve, adjusting focus areas and analysis priorities to align with changing organizational objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a heavy data-driven role, preferably in loss prevention or fraud detection within retail or related industries.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proven ability to identify patterns and interpret data meaningfully. Possess experience in decision-making, multi-tasking during high stress situations, often under time constraints.
  • Proficiency in exception-based reporting, case management, and CCTV tools. Agilence and Jira experience preferred.
  • Experience with query building, pivot tables, data visualization and reporting are highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, specifically LP teams, to support investigations and achieve common goals

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles e.g use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts, using a keyboard, driving an auto mobile ,etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
