Job Summary

As an IT Training Specialist on our Learning Design and Delivery (LDD) team within Health Information Technology and Services (HITS), you will meaningfully contribute to the design, development, and delivery of learning programs to support a variety of applications (such as Epic electronic healthcare records, Microsoft 365 and ServiceNow), technologies, and processes. You will be part of an organization that directly impacts the success and satisfaction of our clinicians, researchers, and educators across Michigan Medicine.

You will collaborate with team members, technical teams, subject matter experts, and other partners to determine training needs. You will participate in the design, development and delivery of learning curriculum that is engaging, drives efficient systems use, and improves the integration of technology into the work of our end customers. Training is provided in multiple ways including classroom, virtual instructor led, and online learning strategies.

About You

You're an experienced trainer/facilitator who is passionate about helping others. You have experience creating training, understand adult learning and related learning theories and a desire to grow within the field. You have experience training applications/technology or demonstrate a strong technical aptitude. 

Responsibilities*

  • Facilitate engaging standard and custom classroom training sessions virtually and onsite depending on the needs of the course and the audience.
  • Collaborate on the analysis, design and development of dynamic and impactful learning through multiple delivery modes: Instructor led training, virtual instructor led training, online learning, and related materials. This could also include curation of vendor content.
  • Evaluate outcomes of training and improve/update content based on changing requirements, system updates, and learner feedback.
  • Have and maintain a strong, working knowledge of assigned applications, services and technologies, and team-based productivity tools.
  • Keep up to date on adult learning principles, modern learning tools, and learning technology trends.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support training programs, such as managing attendance in the Learning Management System, pre and post class messaging, and responding to customer support requests.
  • Participate in implementation and transition to new applications, technologies, and upgrades, including training and 1:1 or small group support as needed.
  • Train and credential other trainers in assigned applications, services and technologies.

Required Qualifications*

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in a learning related role.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Training, Information Technology or Clinical.
  • Advanced degree in a training and learning field.
  • Significant relevant experience in delivery of training (preferably adult learners focused on IT or software training).
  • Experience designing, developing and updating training content.
  • A strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptable to technology and technology changes.
  • Experience in a healthcare related field.
