JOB SUMMARY
The Industrial Engineer solves problems confronting manufacturing performance, directly or indirectly, identifying Root Cause, implementing corrective actions, sustaining improvements and identifying support as required. They will work within the Manufacturing Operations organization and cross functionally across organizations to meet production schedules and maximize internal and external customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Improve overall efficiency of materials and logistics throughout the manufacturing production process
- Utilize industrial engineering principles and techniques to validate recommended process modifications to proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities throughout the company
- Manage and participate in 5S projects
- Discover opportunities for waste reduction and capacity improvement and proactively drive solutions with and without capital investment
- Facilitate kaizen events targeting key improvements to drive productivity, data management/collection, and paperwork handling improvements
- Develop and implement systems and improvement strategies for direct material flow (in plant transport, inventory staging/access, and assembly line supply)
- Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, line setup, error proofing, assembly methods, etc.) to minimize downtime and rework
- Coordinate equipment / process changes on assembly lines
- Review product documentation for accuracy and completeness (BOMs, Routers, Work Instructions, Assembly Drawings, Packaging Instructions, Component Drawings, Inspection Process Sheets, ).
- Create and manage production routers and MRB related rework processes
- Identify issues and risks to ensure cost effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing
- Perform process/product capability studies as required to ensure reliability and maintainability of processes
- Evaluate overall capacity and identify bottleneck processes for potential improvement
- Provide support to production area managers with kaizens, JIT projects, and shop floor management activities to achieve task reductions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
- Knowledge and training in Time/Motion study principles is essential; experience is preferred
- Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
- Excellent skills in collecting and analyzing data from the manufacturing floor and justifying improvements
- Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional
- Apply problem solving skills to champion continuous improvement in work processes
- Encourage involvement and engage work force in improvement projects (product, process, safety…)
- Ensure processes satisfy internal production, safety, ISO, and quality goals and procedures set by management
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software to review product schematics, drawings, and processes
- Demonstrated analytical skills and technical writing
- Change management
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to work without frequent supervision, and a focus on timely delivery of specified deliverables
- Demonstrated proactive learning, independent thinking, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to multitask and prioritize projects given multiple opportunities
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite required
- Catia and AutoCAD experience is a plus
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree (from accredited institution) in Industrial or other Engineering discipline required
- 5 years of relevant professional experience with Bachelor’s degree OR 3 years of relevant professional experience with Master’s degree
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

- Experience in manufacturing industry preferred
