Description:Diagnoses malfunctions of all types of production equipment. Disassembles, repairs or replaces defective parts and makes exacting coordinated adjustments as necessary to overall machine efficiency.
Installs or works with manufacturers' personnel in installing machine tools and equipment with a high degree of tolerance alignment and positioning accuracy. Disassembles, services, and re-assembles delicate mechanical and hydraulic functional mechanisms especially vital to machine operation where extreme care must be exercised to avoid damage or introduction of error into system through improper parts alignment and adjustment.
Tears down, overhauls and rebuilds all types of industrial automated machines to restore to manufacturer's original specifications. Test operates machines as necessary to ensure proper operation prior to release to production personnel.
Performs repairs on Production Machine Maintenance and Non-production Machine Maintenance. Makes periodic inspections of production and non-production machinery such as lathes, punch presses, conveyors, steam turbines, elevators, overhead cranes and doors, and sewage plant pumping station to determine servicing and repair operations necessary to prevent breakdowns or need for machine rebuilding. Tears down machines as necessary, diagnoses improper functioning, and makes required adjustments to such parts or units as clutches, belt and chain drives, gibbs, bearings, shear blades, machine head spindles, and tail stocks. Overhauls coolant systems on such machines.
Replaces, fits up, and performs other necessary bench operations to replacements for worn or broken parts such as gears, shafts, pumps, valves, packing, rings, and pistons, excluding the set-up and operation of major power machine tools to fabricate or modify such parts. Prepares sketches, templates, and instructions and specifies material requirements and tolerances for fabrication and processing of replacement parts by others.
Performs similar repair operations on electric motors and other electrical equipment wherein repairs are of a mechanical nature. Works with other maintenance employees on jobs requiring combination of craft skills. Assists in performing machine tool rebuilding operations wherein operations are similar to and of no higher level than those described herein.
Determines sequence of fabrication-assembly operations for building non-productive plant equipment and aids such as work stands, slings, scaffolding, welding and riveting tables, and equipment wherein power units may be integral parts thereof. Makes location and contour layouts and templates. Fabricates detail parts from pipe, plate and tubular stock, and rolled shapes involving irregular and reverse curves, single and compound angles and curve surfaces, and exacting tolerances and requiring sawing, filing, grinding, drilling, tapping, reaming, bending, and filing operations manually and with portable and pedestal grinders, drills, and saws.
Improvises own fabrication-assembly tools and aids. Performs final finishing, precision fitting, and assembling of parts, makes adjustments, and tests functionally as required.
Selects proper oil, grease, coolant, and fluid according to verbal and written instructions, manufacturer's charts or specifications. Performs such typical operations as oiling/greasing machines and mechanical equipment according to a routine schedule or if maintenance was performed, when needed.
Works from shop orders; manufacturers' specifications; complex plant, product, and tool design engineering drawings, sketches, and written and verbal information in regard to configuration, dimensional, and material specifications; using best shop practices in regard to welding sequences, processes, methods, techniques, and equipment. Works to exacting welding tolerances.

Basic Qualifications:
Industrial automated machine maintenance.
A Candidate is required to take and satisfactorily complete an entrance Proficiency Demonstration (PD). To qualify for the PD, the candidate is required to have the following minimum level of experience and/or training:
1. Three years of experience repairing, setting up, and maintaining NC or CNC equipment.
OR
2. Completion of a high quality industrial based Machine Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) Certified Apprenticeship programs are typically 8,000 hours in duration.
OR
3. Completion of a high quality industrial based Automated Machines Mechanic Training Program. These programs should be typically 4,000 hours in duration, similar in curriculum and standards as 2 above.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
