The Home Loan Consultant is responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities in the Residential Lending Department.  This position supports the Mortgage Information Center, Home Loan and Home Equity Specialists for member communication and loan production while being responsible for knowledge of current product offerings, policies, and guidelines in concert with Federal and State compliance regulations, private mortgage insurers, and FNMA.
Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Essential Functions:• Answer incoming calls from members regarding first and second mortgage products and loan status.• Respond to inquiries from the departmental email box. • Review mortgage applications and assist members with the completion of required information and documentation to meet loan submission guidelines.  • Evaluate and verify information provided on real estate loan applications.• Assist in follow up on incomplete loan applications with regard to regulation B 10 day letters and Adverse Action Notices.

Job Qualifications
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Required Minimum Qualifications:• High School Diploma or equivalent.• 2+ years of work experience in the mortgage or home equity lending industry.• Working knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, and Banking Regulations as they apply to the mortgage area. • Analytical, decision making and administrative skills.• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.   • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure and fast paced environment.  • Organization, time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at one time.• Ability to interface with other supervisors. • Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.  • Applicants for this position must successfully complete and pass the eligibility requirements for registration under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E Act), which requires:
1. Federal Registration under the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Applicants at the minimum must furnish the Registry with information concerning the applicant’s identity including: (1) Fingerprints for submission to the FBI and any other relevant governmental state agency for a State and national criminal history and background check; and (2) personal history and experience including authorization for the Registry to obtain information related to any administrative, civil or criminal findings by governmental jurisdiction. Failure to successfully pass the Registry background screening requirements could result in loss of position and/or employment.
2. As an individual mortgage loan originator, you must demonstrate financial responsibility, character, and general fitness such as to warrant the determination that you will operate honestly, fairly, and efficiently. A mortgage loan originator must also comply with all SAFE Act registration requirements.
3. A review of your credit report will be used to determine your level of financial responsibility, measured using the same standards as all credit union employees at new hire with the exception of consideration of multiple bankruptcies. Multiple bankruptcies were added for mortgage loan originator positions to comply with the TILA §1026.35(f).  A review of your level of financial responsibility will consist of considering relevant factors such as the existence of current outstanding judgments, tax liens, other government liens, nonpayment of child support, or the existence of bankruptcies, foreclosures, or a pattern of delinquencies.  We will ignore medical debts and credit scores. 4. A review of your criminal background check from the NMLSR will be used to determine your character and general fitness. We will also use any other information reasonably available to us as part of a prudent hiring process and information into which we come into possession to aid in this determination. A review of your character and general fitness will consist of considering acts of unfairness or dishonesty, including dishonesty in the course of seeking employment, and any disciplinary actions by regulatory or professional licensing agencies. Additionally, you may not have been convicted of, pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to, a felony during the preceding seven-year period, or in the case of a felony involving an act of fraud, dishonesty, a breach of trust, or money laundering, at any time.
Preferred Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field. • Experience with FNMA and government loans.• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
