Honeywell is seeking a Director, Communications, reporting to the Vice President, Internal Communications, Executive Events and Corporate Social Responsibility, based in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced, poised, and savvy Communications professional who wants to join an innovation leader and help shape the future.

This leader will deliver internal communications counsel and support for a Honeywell senior executive who reports directly to the Chairman and CEO and leads our software organization. This work involves strategic planning in support of key functional initiatives and business priorities; developing and delivering robust, sound communications plans and messages; and preparing the executive for key presentations and speaking opportunities, including planning, and developing town hall meetings and external speaking engagements.

The person in this role will develop and execute global internal communication strategies resulting in campaigns that drive employee engagement and forge stronger alignment with the company's direction.

Storytelling experience and prowess is a must as this individual will help guide efforts to consistently develop creative, compelling, and human-focused content that connects Honeywell employees with each other, leaders, and the company's strategic initiatives. Fluency in and passion for analytics is also imperative as we seek to measure and interpret data that help us enhance our communication practices across the company.

We also want a dynamic individual with a knack for organizing exciting, innovative events, such as hackathons, and with energy around telling our software story. Attention to detail and a passion for creating unforgettable experiences are essential.

The ideal candidate will be a confident, independent communications professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably from a corporate or agency background and with proven track record of driving communications success. This individual should have outstanding executive presence and a keen interest in understanding a business, a strong orientation toward process and organization, and the ability to influence partners and clients in a highly matrixed corporate environment. Outstanding written and verbal communication are required, as is mastery of English and Associated Press Style. Experience in technology & innovation communications and supporting technology-focused executives is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead communications strategy, counsel, and delivery for assigned senior leaders to strengthen employee engagement and Honeywell's positioning as a leading technology company.
  • Support major software initiatives, organization transitions, leadership changes, and other transformation steps through innovative and effective communication plans that address the needs of varied audiences and stakeholders.
  • Support cross-company measurement of communications effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Raise the bar on the quality of communications by guiding content strategies that result in elegantly simple, visually compelling, and easily understandable communications.
  • Oversee and contribute to editorial planning/development in support of Honeywell's drive for innovation.
  • Lead communications support for the software events.
  • Support the Corporate team's execution of the annual senior level meetings, quarterly Global Town Meetings, and functional town halls, as appropriate.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 10+ years of demonstrated successful experience in external and internal communications in a corporate or an agency environment.

  • The ability to think strategically and provide communications counsel to senior leadership and lead the development of communication strategies and plans to drive results.
  • Expert-level storytelling ability and writing skills, with ability to quickly develop clear, concise messages.
  • Excellent and ruthless editing skills. A willingness to be hands-on with writing and editing to get content produced efficiently and on deadline.
  • Software communications experience.
  • A willingness to challenge the status quo, think creatively and take intelligent risks in raising the quality of communications across Honeywell.
  • Excitement and experience around applying AI to communications.
  • Intimate understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn, and an advanced understanding of how best to leverage channels such as Yammer to promote employee engagement.
  • An extraordinary ability to work productively with executives, clients, and partners at all levels.
  • The ability to handle pressures and demands from multiple clients and competing priorities.
