SUMMARY: Work safely and observe all plant safety, GMP, and food safety rules. Responsible for the safe and effective use of industrial lift trucks in accordance with plant procedures. Must be able to train and become licensed to operate lift truck(s). Routinely feed depal conveyors with components. Supply the packaging line with correct components and supplies. Unload mezzanines of slip sheets and frames and load onto trucks. Perform bay maintenance and support inventory control. Follow department paperwork as defined by the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all safety and GMP rules to assure zero accidents and compliance with plant industrial lift truck licensing program and food safety regulations.
- Perform material handling duties which include but are not limited to:
- Place correct pallets of containers on individual infeed line at depal.
- Remove slip sheets and frames from mezzanine holders.
- Supplies line with correct caps, trays, labels, shrink film, rings and/or glue.
- Be capable of figuring amount of components the line needs.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Perform bay maintenance.
- Comply with FIFO, where applicable.
- Return unused components to proper storage area.
- Work with filler operators to obtain full totes and deliver to pumping station.
- Cut and bale plastic from containers. Also remove bands in a timely manner.
- Support department inventory control programs.
- Help unload trucks of containers, when applicable.
- Perform physical labor to load and unload partial pallets and/or make up full pallets.
- Maintain simple records and paperwork related to inventory and quality.
- Perform other duties required of the position or as directed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work safely
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
- Perform visual inspections of materials and products.
- Record simple data on paper and/or via keyboard.
- Read and understand simple written instructions.
- Perform other physical tasks which require pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, walking, climbing (stairs and ladders), standing and sitting.
- Able to use hands to perform a wide array of duties requiring fine manipulation and gripping.
- Complete industrial lift truck license training.
- Excellent communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization
