Job Summary
This is an hourly position for current and incoming UM-Flint students.
General Responsibilities:
Student Staff Supervision: Provide evening supervision of the student Event Staff. Ensure and verify proper room setups and cleanliness. Be available to provide guidance and answer questions. Ensure staff are completing assignments accurately and on time. Complete a daily report at the end of each shift.
Customer Service: Oversee evening events throughout campus. Provide event assistance with audio-visual needs. Enforce university and departmental policies.
Responsibilities*
Specific Duties:
- Open and lock rooms as needed
- Assist with weather and fire emergencies where needed
- Enforce university and departmental policies
- Make contact with event hosts and maintain customer relations
- Ensure proper event setups and manage events as needed
- Ensure rooms are clean and that all equipment is functioning correctly
- Provide information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding policies, programs and services
- Perform routine tasks related to programs, services and equipment
- Assist with room cleaning/setups where needed
- Complete daily reports thoroughly
- Assist with inventories, including linens, equipment and supplies
- Inspect conference rooms and report any issues on the daily log
- Ensure storerooms are clean and orderly
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications*
- Current UM-Flint student
- Ability to direct student staff and enforce policies
- Ability to provide high quality customer service under varying conditions
- Knowledge of the UM-Flint campus
- Ability to work 4pm-9pm, Monday-Friday - some flexibility allowed
Desired Qualifications*
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Previous customer service experience
- Familiarity and understanding of audio visual equipment
- UM-Flint Graduate Student
Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
