Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Associate Engineer/ Engineer Tool to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the Clearfield, UT area.
We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications.  We design and manufacturer solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale.
The Associate Engineer/ Engineer Tool will be part of our Tooling Team and will Integrate & Offload Tooling packages to support Aerospace composite part fabrication, handling, and assembly for the commercial and defense aerospace industries.  Engineers get the opportunity to manage their work from design concept thru implementation.  Our Tooling Team works independently, but interacts closely with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to achieve expectations. 
The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborating with internal and external customers.  You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, CAD Designers, safety, and operations, designing industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, while considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.  If you are looking for an opportunity to grow with a leader in the Aerospace Industry, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
This position will work a 9/80 schedule on 1st shift with every other Friday off.  Onsite presence is required in Clearfield and Roy, UT. due to the nature of the role.
There is intermittent travel associated with this role that is not expected to exceed 15%. Travel is typically all within the continental US and mainly involves tooling supplier visits and source inspections.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

• Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with customers, both internal and external
• Coordinate/develop & execute test plans
• Performing tolerance analysis to ensure form/fit/function
• Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actions
• Develop & evaluate process improvements
• Assist Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability, validate process/technology.
• Developing manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment in support of our process work instructions and visual aids of our shop planning process and other functions that affect product performance.
• Managing all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble, and validate
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings to be used in the manufacturing of new tooling, to support the production
• Create effective and safe equipment that is used to manufacture, test, qualify, and transport aircraft or A/C components.
• Interface with review team to assure customer satisfaction with design
• Work alongside the manufacturing team to ensure overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
• Work with internal Customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programs
• Developing tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet Customer requirements
• Understand/monitor cost and schedule
• Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability
• Support vendors as needed during fabrication
• Inspect tool configuration for drawing compliance, including fit, form and function
• Support Operations and Process Engineering in the use of all tooling
Core Competencies :

• Manufacturing Methods - Knowledge of manufacturing, methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools, cutting tools and fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems). Ability to select the best method of producing parts, tools, or assemblies. Verifiable performance record that includes the various aspects of assembly line operation
• Project Management - Successful project management and leadership experience. Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with customers, both internal and external.
• Computer Aided Design Tools - Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).
• Engineering Drawings & Specs - Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Basic level understanding of GD&T
Basic Qualifications Associate Engineer Tool:

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM related field with 0 years of experience in engineering, design, tooling, fabrication, or manufacturing/production environment; OR Masters' Degree with 0 years of experience OR PHD with 0 years' experience.
• Experience utilizing Siemens NX/CATIA CAD tools or applicable 3D CAD systems
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as required by the business.
Basic Qualifications Engineer Tool:

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM related field with 2 years of experience in engineering, design, tooling, fabrication, or manufacturing/production environment; OR Masters' Degree with 0 years of experience OR PHD with 0 years' experience.
• Experience utilizing Siemens NX/CATIA CAD tools or applicable 3D CAD systems
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as required by the business.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
• Project management experience
• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience with Aerospace Tooling
• Ability to Read/understand blueprints/GD&T in accordance with ASME 14.5
• Direct Experience with NX
• 1 year of Experience working with SAP
Salary Range: $58,200 - $87,200
Salary Range 2: $70,200 - $105,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
