Summary of the Role: As a Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and delivering clear, engaging, and educational content related to employee benefits and health insurance plans. You’ll collaborate closely with account managers, benefit consultants, and HR departments to ensure employees understand their options and how to enroll with confidence. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Create and update employee-facing communications including enrollment guides, benefit summaries, FAQs, email campaigns, flyers, videos, and presentations.
  • Tailor benefit education materials to meet the needs of diverse workforces, industries, and communication styles.
  • Assist in developing open enrollment communication strategies and timelines.
  • Present benefit information during virtual and in-person employee meetings, webinars, and Q&A sessions.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with customized communications and training tools.
  • Stay current on industry trends, compliance requirements, and best practices in benefits communication. 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to client locations as needed to support in-person meetings, open enrollment events, and benefit education sessions. (approximately 30% travel). 

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-first attitude.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Comfort presenting to groups both in person and virtually.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required 
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of health insurance, employee benefits, and open enrollment processes a plus. 

Education and/or Experience:   

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in employee communications, benefits communications, or health insurance industry preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:  

  • Life &Health License

The base salary range for this position is $48,000 – $85,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
