Could you be our next Director R&D Portfolio Insights? This is a hybrid role located in our King of Prussia PA, Bern Switzerland or Marburg Germany office. You will report to the Senior Director Portfolio Insights
You will collaborative and be the strategic role accountable and responsible for leading the Portfolio Insights Hub. You will be the analytical expert and operational portfolio engine to lead data-driven decision-making and strategic optimization of our R&D portfolio. You will be a specialist, providing advanced R&D portfolio modeling and decision-support, while ensuring comprehensive portfolio data management, performance monitoring and adherence of portfolio standards. Role accountable for overseeing the daily responsibilities of Senior Manager, R&D Portfolio Insights.
Advanced R&D Portfolio Modeling and Value Optimization:
- Develop and implement R&D portfolio modeling and scenario planning using the Advanced Portfolio Analysis Tool (Planview Advisor).
- Become a Super User and Champion of the tool, using its capabilities to allow real-time, dynamic dialogue with leadership regarding R&D portfolio performance and optimization.
- Analyze portfolio data (e.g., project metrics, value and productivity, risk, balance, etc.) To provide recommendations on how best to increase portfolio value (near and long-term)
- Collaborate frequently with Portfolio Partners to perform Scenario Planning and Trade-off analysis to support decision-making and prioritization discussions
- Foster a culture of analytical innovation by applying advanced portfolio analytics to explore new opportunities and address the evolving commercial landscape to meet our strategic goals.
Portfolio Master Data Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of portfolio master data
- Ensure data integrity and consistency with portfolio data classification and definitions.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Ensure communication of the CSL R&D Portfolio progression and achievements to multiple partners including R&D Leadership, TA Leaders & Governance Committees. Consolidate input from across the therapeutic areas and departments to ensure that all views are represented.
- Implement performance monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to analyze portfolio performance data to identify risks, trends and opportunities
- Define and measure measurements aligned with strategic goals to assess portfolio progression and value contribution
- Partner with Project & Portfolio Operations (PPO) and R&D Helping Tech develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights to partners and senior leadership
Standard Portfolio Process:
- Oversee the documentation and socialization of standard portfolio management process and best practices
- Oversee the generation of standard PRM Integrated Portfolio materials on a semi-annual basis, while considering new ways to visualize the data to allow accelerated decision-making
- Ensure compliance with established processes and guidelines.
Portfolio Risk Management:
- Lead the facilitation and continuous improvement of the PTRS (Probability of Technical and Regulatory Success) framework and workshops.
- Support project teams in conducting risk assessments to identify potential risks and uncertainties that may affect project success.
- Help develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks and enhance the probability of project success.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate life sciences/business/data analytics degree in relevant discipline
- 8+ years in R&D portfolio management, data analytics, data science, or related field
- Experience working in a global biotech organization /understanding of drug development lifecycle
- Experience in R&D portfolio modeling and decision analysis, and understanding in financial modeling
- Proficiency in portfolio management software and data visualization tools (e.g., Planview Advisor, Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with global, virtual team management of teams
- Involvement in multicultural and international product development teams
