About the Team
In 2024, Workday launched an Enterprise Data and Analytics team with a mission to transform and optimize the way Workday creates and shares trusted data to drive actionable insights and data led innovation across the enterprise. The team has introduced a new, cloud based technical stack, a Data Product methodology anchored in the principles of Data Ops, an Active Data Governance methodology to manage the quality and discovery of data, and a series of modern analytics tools that facilitate discovery, analysis, visualization, machine learning, and AI. The team's goal is to lead high value cross-functional data and analytics work and to establish and support the broader Workday analytics community by establishing modern, common ways of working, facilitating training and communication, and creating secure data and analytics brokering capability across business units.About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Operations (DataOps) Architect to lead the design of technical and business processes associated with Workday's cloud based data platform. This would include coordinating with the Business Technology team to optimize the environment, the CI/CD process, and the platform integration to key governance and quality tools as well as downstream systems. It also involves the definition of business processes to be used by Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists to leverage the infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data engineering principles, experience with modern data tools (Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran), and a passion for automation and efficiency. This role will be instrumental in building and scaling our data platform to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities are as follows:
Design and implement technology solutions and processes for the building of robust, scalable data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.
Establish and maintain a CI/CD framework for data pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of data products, including definition of tooling and branch strategy
Develop and implement automation and orchestration tools to streamline data operations and reduce manual effort.
Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues. Continuously tune data pipelines and infrastructure for optimal performance.
Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions that meet business requirements.
Lead the documentation of the Workday Analytics Methodology
Design and implement a change program around DataOps adoption, including how to leverage Snowflake, dbt, Atlan, and Git to deliver repeatable data and analytics products
Measure adoption and look for continuous improvement opportunities related to technology, process, and skills
About You
The ideal candidate will be a change agent with 10+ years of experience and a proven track record of building and scaling analytics cloud architectures, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with stakeholders to drive adoption and value creation
Basic Qualifications
10+ years extensive experience with Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Databricks, and other relevant data development and pipeline tools.
Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing best practices.
Proven experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines for data.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms
Passion for automation and a track record of implementing solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Other Qualifications
Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with data cataloging, data lineage, and data quality tools.
Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance requirements.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
