Job Description Under the supervision of the Procurement Director, the Category/Quality Manager works hand in hand with engineering, programs, business development, and leadership to determine what supplier relationships will best benefit the business. Responsibilities include analyzing the existing supply base, developing new sources of supply, implementation of supplier improvement initiatives, negotiating long-term agreements for pricing, delivery and terms, driving continual cost reductions and avoidance and driving supply base consolidation. Continual review and fostering of supplier relations to create supplier partnerships and reduce ad hoc buying.
This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining a comprehensive supplier quality system.
Supplier Quality responsibilities include:
Vetting Quality Relevant Suppliers prior to on-boarding to ensure they meet BAE and regulatory standards and maintaining the Approved Supplier List (ASL). Participate in the development of program quality plans and takes the lead for updates to supplier quality procedures in the PDSL. Works with programs to ensure that supplier performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards including ISO. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies and data related to production. Assists programs to investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met. Recommends supplier corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modifications.
Collaboration and communication with engineering, programs, manufacturing, contracts and other Supply Chain areas to include supplier leadership and personnel. This cross-functional coordination will typically include engagement on integrated project teams (IPTs) to provide input to influence key aspects of the business process.
Participates in supply chain process and system improvement initiatives.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelors degree and minimum ten years directly applicable experience
Comprehension: Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions; ability to understand opposing points of view on complex issues, and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
Organization: Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Reasoning & Decision Making: Ability to make decisions which have impact on the business; ability to develop complex concepts and plans and communicate them effectively through formal or informal presentations either inside or outside the organization.
Communications: Strong written and oral communication skills; interact with Managers, staff, coworkers and others; ability to compose materials such as detailed reports and work-related documents and presentations.
Mathematics: Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex numerical and/or statistical data for forecasting or reporting purposes.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132000 - $224400
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
