Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.

Hybrid Position:

This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.

SUMMARY

This job will effectively partner with Supply Chain Distribution Services, Proprietary Brands, Global Sourcing, Product Integrity, Brand Design and Merchandising to develop and execute spend category strategies and negotiate agreements for products and services using standard and non-standard sourcing methodologies.  Ability to assess supplier capabilities, evaluate proposals and develop, recommend, and execute service level agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

• Sets the overall strategy for certain spend categories and partners with Supply Chain Distribution Services and Proprietary Brands to develop strategies for other spend categories.  The activities may include business partner engagement, supplier innovations, efficiencies in consumption, market dynamics, sourcing timelines, legal requirements, and supplier analysis.  Stays current with market trends, commodity prices and supplier capabilities while demonstrating strategic thinking, category knowledge and functional expertise.
• Leads the sourcing process for products and services in assigned categories in order to identify and address opportunities within the business to maximize the quality of service and optimize costs for PetSmart. Emphasis will be on Total Cost of Ownership, category management and strategic sourcing techniques that enable PetSmart to realize its growth, service and profitability targets.
• Must be able to successfully communicate and gain alignment with regards to “rules of engagement” with internal business partners related to sourcing, negotiating and contracting with external suppliers to ensure that the needs of the business are realized.  Collaborates with executive leadership on project roadmaps and buying strategies.
• Contribute expense savings and sales margin benefit realized through relevant unit price reductions or service improvement.  Develop strategies and proposals to consider new categories of spend not previously explored.  Locate and introduce new and alternative sources of supply to ensure quality and reliable supply of goods and services at the optimal total cost.  Establish and further develop on-going business relationships with impacted business partners to gain transparency of business priorities and alignment on rules of engagement for sourcing, negotiating and contracting with external suppliers
• Additional responsibilities will include leading a procurement work stream to optimize/implement a current/new process, facilitate best practices learning sessions and serve as a member of the eSourcing review committee.

• Rigorous analysis of spend data and market/industry dynamics, sourcing strategy development and implementation, ability to influence, project management, critical thinking and problem solving, relationship management, agile change management and strong communication skills.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Finance from a four-year college or university and 5+ years of procurement sourcing experience for several products and services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

• Strong data extraction and analytics; competency in using Excel, Word, Power Point; and working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP system.  High level of proficiency with SAP Ariba e-Auction process and tools and advanced negotiation skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• CPM or CPSM a plus

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
