Responsibilities include:
- Must be fully competent at assembling, installing, and securing various cable trays, racks, and cabinets used in telecommunications closets
- Must be fully competent to install, replace, repair, remove, terminate, and test new and existing LAN cabling and cross-connecting circuits using patch panels in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, directives, and industry best practices
- Maintain core datacenter infrastructure and cable infrastructure labeling in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, directives, and industry best practices
- Provide guidance and perform quality assurance checks for other personnel in the installation and termination of LC / SC / RJ45 connectors, testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems, and various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit
- Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of network infrastructure pathways and drop locations
- May evaluate existing infrastructure pathways and recommend design changes to improve performance
- Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required
- Based on direction from the site engineer, works with other technicians on staff and completes required tasks/activities and necessary documentation
- Complete Change Requests (CR) and Incident tickets promptly for the customer
- Must be analytical, detail oriented, and have a process and compliance focus
- Must be a positive and proactive team player, self-starter and able to work without direct supervision
- Excellent people skills, customer oriented, and willingness to help others
- Strong work ethic and ability to adjust work schedule to complete tasks if needed
- Must be able to read and interpret system installation drawings and design packages
- Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices
- Must stay current with the latest technologies and installation procedures and have a full understanding of the scope of work
- Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission
- Willing to travel if/when needed
- Must have a High School diploma
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (5 years with an Associates degree & 3 years with a Bachelor's degree). Significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Certification in copper and/or fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting from accredited industry organization
- Knowledge of secure communications infrastructure and asset control processes
- Familiarity with patch panels and large enterprise networks and related equipment.
- Experience with customer trouble ticketing systems (e.g., Remedy)
- Experience with copper and fiber-optic trouble shooting equipment
- Familiarity with applicable standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568-C, ANSI/TIA-606-B)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (meticulous regarding documentation)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to thrive/excel in a sense-of-urgency environment
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
- Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
- BICSI certification (i.e., Installer 2 Copper, Installer 2 Fiber, or Technician)
- DoD Directive 8140 certification (e.g., Security+)
- Familiar with Microsoft operating systems
- Ability to professionally interact with high level military officers and civilian officials on a daily basis
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $70735 - $120250
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
