Our vision is to provide strategic technology decisions that link investments and achieved business outcomes. This focus allows the team to be a crucial supporting partner with the business to help them gain concrete business value through our company's investments in digital.

This position will grow our Business Architecture practice, collaborating with divisionally-facing architects that support various capability areas (Research, Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Enterprise, and Technology Enablement) to:

  • Deliver business architecture for key programs in these capability areas.

  • Provide architecture governance for these areas, defining technology standards, evaluating new technologies, and reviewing proposed architectures.

  • Evolve our architecture methodologies and support Enterprise Architecture delivered programs that power architecture broadly across the organization.

The successful candidate will collaborate with business and IT leaders throughout the company. This position offers the opportunity to work in an enterprise team, interacting with leaders from all business areas, and actively contributing to Enterprise Architecture's vision of high-quality, light touch architecture governance.

Responsibilities:

Architecture:

  • Delivering and documenting business architecture in collaboration with the enterprise architects supporting the various business-facing IT areas. Transforming our architecture artifacts into an enabling information asset.

  • Partnering with other architects to evolve our Enterprise Capability Model and driving use cases such as capability-based planning and roadmapping.

  • Partnering with the product leads, teams, and divisional architects to reuse the best available technologies and processes.

  • Collecting, evaluating, and documented standard technologies and use of architecture patterns across IT. Use agile, value-centric, business outcomes-oriented, and total cost of ownership-based principles to guide EA decision making. Ensure technology procurement decisions are aligned with these standards and patterns.

Leadership:

  • Driving rapid, disciplined, and evidence-based decision making. Justifying choices with research and clearly articulate the reasoning ("why") behind them. Presenting options, their pros and cons, and final recommendations using compelling storytelling to align stakeholders.

  • Proactively identifying and solving the complex problems that impact the management and direction of our IT and business Strategy. Develop strategies that maximize success in risky/complex projects.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Management:

  • Forging strong partnerships with Enterprise Architects, business partners, divisionally-aligned architects, data experts, and solutions architects. Collaborating to deliver good architecture discipline, create enterprise architecture deliverables and artifacts, and provide leadership for cross-functional teams, projects, and initiatives across divisions.

External Sensing:

  • Staying current with pharmaceutical technology trends and introduce these best practices to the IT organization to meet the changing business landscape.

  • Connecting with peer organizations external to the company, as well as key suppliers and industry-leading sources to derive strategic insights and trends while incorporating them into strategies and roadmaps for the company.

Skills:

Enterprise & Business Architecture:

  • Understands and practices the key tenants of business architecture, including capabilities, frameworks, methodologies, and technologies necessary for building and maintaining a robust enterprise architecture practice.

  • Decomposes problems into solutions in multiple domains: people, process, technology, and data. Stewards and governs the mater data used by Enterprise Architecture to effectively align IT strategy and delivery.

Strategic Planning

  • Crafts strategic plans and deploy policies, standards, and guidelines to power the delivery of these strategies.

  • Proven ability to bridge strategy with execution. Delivers on the value of strategic architectures through the successful adoption of proposed ontologies, methodology, roadmaps, architectures, and strategies.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Effectively collaborates and communicates difficult concepts with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including, but not limited to executive management, business leaders, IT peers, and colleagues worldwide.

  • Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills that drive shared goals in a matrix organization, manages cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams in an extremely dynamic environment. Ability lead through ambiguity and manage and navigate across conflicting priorities to balance critical tactical and strategic needs.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Effectively collaborates and communicates difficult concepts with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including, but not limited to executive management, business leaders, IT peers, and colleagues worldwide.

  • Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills that drive shared goals in a matrix organization, manages cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams in an extremely dynamic environment. Ability lead through ambiguity and manage and navigate across conflicting priorities to balance critical tactical and strategic needs.

Emerging Technology Monitoring

  • Offers expert advice and develop/recommend leading-edge concepts, technologies, services, processes, or products to address future business needs. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and demonstrate expertise in leading-edge practices, techniques, and technologies. Ability to apply Cloud, SaaS, and modern Analytics and data integration architectures, platforms, and solutions

Foundational Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years prior experience in Enterprise, Business, Information, Systems & Application or Solution Architectures.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills - able to effectively communicate complex concepts in simple ways.

  • Self-directed, self-motivated, focused leader who with little direction can fill in the gaps as to what is needed, and drive expected results.

  • Effectively leverages diversity to enable the benefit of different perspectives.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$126,500.00 - $199,100.00
