National Grid is hiring an Associate IT Business Analyst. This is a hybrid role that is located in Hicksville, NY.
Job Purpose
The Associate Business Analyst is accountable to perform a wide range of functions which will include financial, commercial, project management and reporting oriented support for project/product teams. Work will be focused on both investment plan and run the business funded efforts. This role will also provide support to organization initiatives in varied capacities including but not limited to compliance and risk management.
Where possible, this role may also be engaged with supporting enterprise wide project analyst efforts such as providing input into and testing/validating new project oriented ways of working.
Key Accountabilities
* Assist with the development and production of periodic financial performance metrics on jurisdictional/portfolio spend and operational costs for inclusion in monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including relevant variance analysis and commentary on results.
* Coordinate with the IT Finance, Planning & Performance Management and US Program Delivery teams, acting as financial point of contact and assist with implementing value initiatives to help IT in developing the right metrics to measure its performance and to standardize processes & tools.
* Operationally facilitate the monthly forecasting process for the product/project teams supported, ensuring completeness and adherence to process.
* Utilize historical financial data to assist with the development of project budget, resource and forecasting plans.
* Assist stakeholders with the development of monthly/fiscal year end accruals.
* Facilitate the Procure-2-Pay processes from submitting Commercial Requests (COR), to raising shopping carts and processing invoices in SAP.
* Assist in ad-hoc reporting to support requests.
* Report management including archiving and file organization
* Provide support and engage with stakeholders and subject matter experts related to compliance and risk management assessments
* Analyse data and recommend decisions based upon fact.
* Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues, mitigate risks and realise opportunities.
* Research and present findings based on projects or ad-hoc requests in a manner appropriate to the audience.
* Plan and execute activities within the assigned area of expertise in IT.
* Report and deliver project investment plan according to approved blueprint for improving IT processes and workflow.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor's degree and more than 3+ years of related experience OR in lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience.
* Analyst experience with a focus on Investment and Project/Portfolio Planning, and Forecasting, including operational resources and program costs while understanding the concepts between investment and run the business services.
* Working knowledge of Operating vs. Capital Expense rules
* Analysis of business performance and support development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite (at a minimum Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project/Project Online) and/or other Project Management software and demonstrated proficiency
* Demonstration of fact finding capability including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information.
Additional valued experiences:
* Utility industry
* Basic experience with JIRA and Agile Craft.
* Demonstrated IT business acumen.
* Experience in Process Improvement projects
* Proficiency in SharePoint 2010 or newer
* Handle and know when to seek guidance in managing multiple tasks and determine priorities in an ever changing environment while remaining flexible/adaptable as priorities change.
* Work independently were possible as well as in a team based environment.
* Organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.

$74k - $87k a year
