Job Summary
The Health Information Technology & Services organization (HITS) plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, and staff with exceptional technology-related information, products, services, and support. HITS also provides expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and project management.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Michigan Medicine is seeking an individual to support applications and medical devices in our Radiation Oncology clinics. This individual will join the HITS-Radiation Oncology IT team.

Responsibilities*
Plan, implement, and maintain Radiation Oncology's Windows based clinical applications.
Support clinical applications including testing, system design, data management, data backup strategy, and documentation. Assist with user account creation, and access rights.
Plan, implement, manage and maintain Radiation Oncology's clinical imaging systems. Provide system design recommendations and assist with support of image management including DICOM and non-DICOM data.
Complete Compliance and security audit documentation for Radiation Oncology applications and systems.
Implement best practice security strategies for all applications and systems.
Work with HITS and Michigan Medicine partner IT organizations to plan hardware and operating system installations and upgrades for new and existing servers
Perform business analysis activities for all system documentation and organization, including:
- Disaster Recovery: Work with the HITS infrastructure team on DR strategy and DR documentation
- Policies: Document general HITS-Radiation Oncology policies, SLA?s/OLA?s and SOPs for UM and all off-campus sites
- Partner with customers to create requirement and scope documents for projects
- Manage small and medium clinical projects, as directed
- Create schedule and resource planning documents for clinical upgrades
- Assist with clinical application system upgrades
- Support biomedical applications, laptops, and workstations, including vendor systems
- Support Radiation Oncology applications deployed at off-campus sites
- Support customer requests at UM and off-campus sites
- Travel is required for this position for support of Radiation Oncology Clinics around the state of Michigan
- Occasional night and weekend upgrade work required
- This position is a hybrid position with approximately 3 days in the office, and 2 remote days per week and depending on project work
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- At least 3-5 years of experience in Information Technology
- Experience managing customer relationships
- Working knowledge of scripting
- Diverse technical experience
- Some experience with project management
- Solid written, interpersonal, oral communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent analytic and problem-solving ability
- Experience with understanding and documenting workflows and clinical processes, as well as creating technology solutions to support these processes
- Ability to work effectively on a team
- Willingness and strong aptitude to learn new technologies and assume increasing responsibilities
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adjust to changing priorities processes, and project plans
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
This position is initially, term-limited for 2 years. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
