Position Description
The Tax Analyst will be responsible for accurately preparing and reporting federal and state tax matters for Henry Crown and Company and its affiliates, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. This role involves preparing tax returns, estimates, and regulatory filings, as well as supporting audits and staying informed on evolving tax laws.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of federal and state tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Preparation of quarterly tax estimates
- Review of externally prepared federal and state tax returns
- Communicate tax updates, changes in tax regulations, and their potential impacts to operating entities
- Maintain and manage the tax calendar to ensure all filing deadlines are met
- Preparation of regulatory filings, including tax payments and information returns
- Provide support during tax audits and inquiries
- Assist with special projects as assigned, such as tax planning, research on new tax laws and regulations, and process improvements
- Provide support to the finance team on tax-related matters
- Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay updated on tax regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus, but not required)
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in federal & state tax compliance, with a focus on partnerships and S Corporations
- CPA preferred (or CPA eligible)
- Three to five years’ experience with partnerships and S Corporations, demonstrating a progression of knowledge and depth of understanding with the complexities of issues
- Proficiency with tax preparation software, fixed asset software and tax research products
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tax compliance deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Self-motivated work ethic that contributes to tax team by producing quality work within tight timelines, and a collaborative mindset.
