What You'll Do

Purpose:

As an Accommodations Coordinator, you will manage the accommodations program for Ross students who require accommodations due to physical, mental, or learning disabilities. This role is administrative in nature and involves coordinating services and resources to ensure that students have equal access to academic opportunities and can participate fully in their educational experience. The Accommodations Coordinator works closely with faculty and other Ross and UM departments to facilitate accommodations in courses held at Ross, fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment. You will report to the Office Administration Sr. Supervisor for Faculty Support.

Responsibilities*

Program Management (60%)

  • Provide strategic management, planning, and operation of the school's accommodations program. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Coordinate and help implement student accommodations by partnering with several Ross departments, including HR, Registrar's Office and facilities management.
  • Manage the program logistics, including advance planning of room reservations and technology that meet the needs of students with accommodations.
  • Work directly with faculty to identify, arrange, and communicate assessment logistics for students with accommodations that occur throughout the academic year for Ross courses. This work includes ensuring the most efficient use of space and proctors while also accounting for student needs and time conflicts.
  • Work directly with the Proctor Coordinator to ensure seamless support and execution of procuring proctors for regular and accommodation quizzes and exams throughout the academic year.


Student Support (20%)

  • Partner with UM Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) to ensure Ross's approach to accommodations continues to be effective and compliant.
  • Recognize signs of anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns; take appropriate action by referring the individual to professional resources or services if necessary.
  • Aid accommodation students in advocating for themselves regarding university policy and faculty awareness.
  • Partner with UM SSD to answer faculty questions concerning appropriate approaches to working with students needing accommodations.
  • Respond quickly to student inquiries, conflicts, and medical needs and work with the SSD to make decisions on temporary accommodation needs for students.


Policies and Process Improvement (20%)

  • Maintain accurate records and data collection of accommodations program activity.
  • Update appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of accommodation requests, approvals, and implementations.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and students about procedures and policies.
  • Evaluate and take an active role in improving processes and IT management tools to enhance communication of accommodations and scheduling information to students, faculty, and proctors.

Required Qualifications*

  • An Associate degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in fields such as higher education, special education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a student support or accommodations role, ideally in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing programs.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Salary Information: The posting range for this position is $49,700 to $58,300. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience,
training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
