Job Summary
The School of Nursing is looking for an Academic Advisor Intermediate, reporting to the Director of Student Services.
Academic Advisors are necessary to contributing to the success of our nursing students. Advisors participate in a student caseload from the beginning, monitoring academic progress, coordinating with faculty, academic support services and other University resources.
Responsibilities*
Advising and Retention
You will advise current and prospective nursing students on prerequisites, curriculum, general education, transfer credits, and other matters to fulfill the School of Nursing and University requirements for degree completion.
You will counsel on course selection and program progression through the entirety of the program from admission to graduation to include a caseload of pre-nursing students interested in nursing.
You will meet with new-admitted first time college (FTIAC) students to complete required college student inventories to support retention.
You will inform students on process for petitions to the Academic Standards Committee, University Appeal Committee, Fee Appeal Committee for matters related to progression, registration, and financial aid/student accounts.
You will meet with graduating student cohorts regarding honors/awards, graduation ceremonies, application for registered nurse licensure, and other graduation matters.
Admissions
You will work collaboratively with the Undergraduate advising team and the Undergraduate Admissions Committee to collect and process secondary admission materials and help facilitate a holistic admissions process.
You will meet with applicants not selected for admission, offer advice on how to improve their application, provide referral to resources, and additional career counseling.
Administrative
You will collaborate with SON personnel to promote recruitment within high schools, promoting opportunities for careers in nursing.
You will collaborate with the Office of Admissions, Student Success Center, and the Office of the Registrar to ensure student records are complete and accurate.
You will serve as a member of the Nursing Admissions Committee with a focus on pre-licensure program selection.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor Degree in a related field such as Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Business, Nursing, Student Affairs or other relevant disciplines
- Two or more years of experience advising students in an academic setting relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

Hybrid:
